Employer FAQ's

We have put together a list of frequently asked questions to help employers understand what they need to do when they receive an Earnings Arrestment Schedule

Should salary deductions be taken from gross or net pay?

All deductions should be calculated and taken from your employee’s net pay.

How are deductions calculated?

Please refer to the Table of Deductions enclosed with the Earning Arrestment Schedule. Amounts are calculated based on how often your employee is paid and the thresholds using net salary.

How should salary deductions be sent to Scott & Co?

The quickest and easiest way is by bank transfer. Our bank details have been provided on the front of the Earnings Arrestment Schedule.

  • For one employee deduction – please ensure the 12-digit account number is used as reference for each payment
  • For multiple employees – deductions should be sent as one bulk payment. Please email your remittance to finance@scottandcouk.com providing a detailed breakdown; including individual reference numbers, employee names and amounts deducted.
Can deductions be reduced?

No, deductions cannot be changed and must be taken in accordance with the Earnings Arrestment Schedule.

Should we make deductions from bonuses and redundancy pay?

  • Deductions are not permitted from redundancy pay
What should we do if our employee earns under the protected minimum balance (PMB) and/or is on maternity leave?

Please notify us by email to customer.service@scottandco.uk.com

Deductions should continue if your employee is on maternity leave, based on earnings and calculated net pay.

We have received an Earnings Arrestment from another creditor

Please send the other creditor the following information regarding the Earnings Arrestment you have in place with us:

  • name and address of creditor
  • date of issue
  • current outstanding balance on Earnings Arrestment Schedule
We have received another Earnings Arrestment Schedule from you for the same employee. What should we do?

If this happens, and it is the same creditor, a covering letter will have been enclosed providing details of the new Earnings Arrestment Schedule. You should replace the original instruction with the new one.

The balance on the statement does not match the Earnings Arrestment Schedule

This can occur for several reasons. For ease, please contact us at customer.service@scottandco.uk.com providing the employee’s reference number, name and address.

Our employee has advised the Earnings Arrestment Schedule has been executed in error. What should we do?

Please implement the Earnings Arrestment unless you receive notification from us to withdraw it.

Please notify us by emailing customer.service@scottandco.uk.com providing your employee’s reference number, name and address. Please also provide their new employment details, if they are known to you.
